1.I think that every life is meaningful no matter what. We were all put on this earth with a purpose and we all need to live life to the fullest. Even without language, we would find a different way to communicate because we can communicate with some people with as little as a look. I think that without language, life would definitely be more complicated, but it could still be meaningful. There would have to be different ways to get our messages across. Most people think that in order for a life to be meaningful, they have to make something out of themselves. Could you imagine how hard that would be without being able to use language? It would be almost impossible, but I think that just like the first people created a new language, we would also have to come up with some other way to communicate. 2.To me, language is any way that one can get a message across to another person. Some would think it is just vocally talking, but sign language and hand gestures are a huge part of language. I may be partial, but I think that sign language is a fascinating language and more people should use it when communicating.
1. I think it would be possible to have a meaningful life without language. I am sure that if someone was unable to use any form of language they could still find a way to communicate with others. It would just be much more complicated without language, because language is one of the main forms of communication.
2. My definition of language is a main method of human communication that involves spoken and written use of words as well as gestures and facial expressions that speak words of their own.
1. I think that all life is meaningful, no matter if you have language or not. There's always a way to communicate with others, whether it be voice, or sign language, or written language. 2. I would say that language is the way that one individual communicates with another individual, whether it be through verbal language or written language or hand gestures or facial expressions. Language is how we convey our thoughts and feelings with others.
1.Yes, I think that a meaningful life is possible without language. There are many other ways of communicating with others without using direct language techniques. The expansion of technology continues to grow, as well as develop new, unique ways for us to communicate with one another, not directly involving language. For example, if someone has just had a stroke and cannot talk directly with their words, new technology allows them to use a machine to convey simple responses needed to supply the demands necessary to carry out daily living. This could still be a meaningful life for the person because they can communicate in another way, even when they have lost the ability to speak. 2.My definition of language is any means of communication in which verbal, nonverbal, hand gestures, or certain cues are used to tell another person how you are either thinking and/or feeling. This includes sign language, speech, written letters, facial expressions, and body posture.
1) I believe that all life should be considered meaningful, with or without language. Yes, I think that it would be a difficult life without language, but he/she/we would manage to find other ways to manage, because we have to communicate to fulfill Physical Needs, Identity Needs, Social Needs, Practical Needs, which we will strive to achieve, it's part of our nature as discussed in previous chapters.
2) To me language is human communication whether its is spoken or written down using words or the language of gestures or facial expressions to convey to one or more people what they are feeling or thinking.
1) One's life is not measured by their language. There are so many people in our world who unfortunately are not able to speak, but that does not make their life any less meaningful. Who decides the criteria for a meaningful life? The term is completely subjective. Everyone has their own thoughts of what a 'meaningful' life really is. There are so many ways people communicate that do not involve speaking. Some people use sign language to communicate, others are able to write things down so they can give their message to the intended recipient.
2)My definition of language consists of the different ways humans communicate with one another. Verbal and non-verbal cues are ways that we can communicate, as well as facial expressions, hand gestures, and our body language. Theses are just some of the ways that humans can send their messages to others.
1. I believe having a meaningful life without language is possible. There are a lot of people who can't speak, and their life can be just as meaningful as yours and mine. Life is made meaningful, in my opinion, by the choices you make concerning your lifestyle. The way you help others and choose to do the right or wrong thing. You can do all of these things without spoken language, and even body language. There are many disabled as well who can't speak and can't use body language, and their lives are made meaningful by the way they touch and teach the other individuals in their life, no matter how long or short. 2. Language, to me, is the way people communicate. It can be spoken, written, or nonverbal. The way people get their messages across as well as how others present their feedback. Everyone also has their own unique language, because people can have different meanings to words or use them in different contexts. People can even differ in language just by the way they pronounce a word or phrase.
1. I believe that a meaningful life can be achieved without communication. Many people do not have the ability to speak or speak as well as others but they still live their lives just as they would like people who can speak. Some people choose not to speak so they can have meaning to their lives. These would be Buddhist monks and they would choose not to communicate to be one with the Buddha so that they can find meaning for their lives.
2. Language is how communication is used through various cultures. Over time, language has been passed down from generation to generation through various cultures. Language can vary from the dialect you speak, to the letters your write for words, and even the use of symbols in communication.
1. I think a meaningful life could possibly be achievable but extremely difficult without language. Language allows us to create symbols, attach meanings to them, and use that to communicate with others. There are certain nonverbal ways to communicate, like facial expressions, that don't use language. However, I don't feel that those certain ways would be enough to live a meaningful life.
2. To me language is a system of symbols that allows us to communicate. It's words and even some nonverbal symbols that allow me to get my point across to someone. It is how I explain my thoughts to another person.
1.) I think that it would be extremely difficult to have a meaningful life without language, although I think that it would be possible. People would just have to work harder to show others what they are trying to say or what kind of emotion that they are feeling. For example if you wanted to tell someone that you got a promotion at work it would be hard to express your excitement to someone without using any kind of language.
2.) My definition of language is being able to show some kind of facial expression, body movement, or vocal communication with another person.
1) I think that a meaningful life could possibly be achieved without language, but it would make it much more difficult to achieve. Language can sometimes add special meanings to things in life, and without that it would be hard to achieve a meaningful life.
2) I believe that language is any way that one communicates with another. Language could include but isn't limited to verbal, non verbal, signed, or written communication.
1. Do you think that a meaningful life is possible without language?
I think a “meaningful life” is possible; there will certainly be a challenge with that. If we were to live without a language we could most definitely find something else to communicate with. Other than that it can be hard to figure out how someone may be feeling, or if an emergency occurs what could you do without speaking. Language is used too much for it to be something you can get rid of.
2. What is your definition of language?
My definition of language would be any sound of voice or symbols and the way we do things. An example would be speaking a different way from another culture, Americans=English, Hispanics=Spanish. Sign Language is made up of gestures and symbols with your hands.
1. I do believe that you can achieve a meaningful life with out language. If you are unable to speak for some reason, you can communicate with people in other ways and still have meaningful relationships with people with verbal communication. The definition of a meaningful life varies person to person. It just depends on what a meaningful life is to you personally. It would definitely be more challenging to achieve that if you can’t use language, but I believe it is possible.
2. My definition of language would be anyway a person chooses to communicate something to another person. There are even many different variations of language such as Spanish, English, French, etc. It can include anything from verbal, nonverbal or even body language. All of these are ways I believe a person can use language in life.
1.) Depending on what a person defines meaningful life and language as, this question can be answered in many different ways. Thinking language as a whole, meaning written, spoken, sign language, and other languages that exist in this world, I believe it would be difficult to live a somewhat meaningful life. People would loose their number one way to interact and show others how they feel, along with not being able to understand one another. Even if humans have animalistic instincts on how to interact and live among others, people would loose the ability to interact with people on a deeper level. I believe that with the way our world works today, not having language would be disastrous and cause catastrophes, like the economy failing, to occur.
2.) Language to me is anything that helps people interact and understand each other. Such things that could fall under this is written, spoken, and sign language. All three of these things help people communicate with each other on a deeper level.
1) I do think that a meaningful life is possible without language, but it would also be that much harder to accomplish. Some people in the world are born with handicaps that affect their ability to use language still live lives just as meaningful as anyone else. Some examples of these handicaps are being mute, the inability to speak, and being deaf, the inability to hear. The best example of a person overcoming the loss of language and living a very meaningful life is Helen Keller. Even though she never had a "language", she still had a meaningful life.
2) My own definition of language would be a distinct type of verbal, written, or signed form of communication used between particular groups of people, most often being cultures. A language's purpose is to express emotions. It also gives people a chance to interact with others in a society. This is my interpretation of language based on life experiences and my own knowledge.
